Single-row cylindrical roller bearing with an NU design (X-life). The outer ring of this bearing has two rigid ribs, while the inner ring has none. As a result, NU bearings are only capable of supporting radial forces. This bearing type is commonly used as a floating bearing. Floating bearings allow axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing in both directions necessary in applications where the shaft material shrinks or expands due to temperature changes (thermal expansion).
